New to NA

Tradition Three

“The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using.”

NA offers addicts a way to live drug-free.

You may be feeling hopeless and afraid. You may think this program, like other things you have tried, will not work. Most of us felt like that when we first came to NA.

If you are not sure you’re an addict, don’t worry about it; just keep coming to our meetings. You will have all the time you need to make up your own mind. Allow yourself the time to listen to us share about what it has been like for us. Perhaps you will hear something that sounds familiar to you.

Our message is very simple: We have found a way to live without using drugs, and we are happy to share it with anyone for whom drugs are a problem.

What Worked for Us

MEETINGS

There are meetings every day of the week – both in-person and virtual. We recommend attending as many meetings as possible at first. You can find our local schedule Physical Meetings or Online Meetings .

We give out key tags to recognize clean time milestones. If it is your first NA meeting, or if it’s your first meeting after a relapse, we suggest that you pick up a white “Welcome” key tag. We also suggest that you let the chairperson know that you are new to NA. They can help connect you with other members.

If you feel a connection with experienced NA members it is okay to ask for phone numbers. Use the phone numbers between meetings when you are struggling to stay clean. We are here to help each other!

SPONSORSHIP

Sponsorship is simply one addict helping another. To get a sponsor, all we have to do is ask. The best place to look for a sponsor is at an NA meeting. About Sponsorship
